"Son Of Spergy" by Daniel Caesar Review

This is my first album review, so I'm going to get it over with.

Son Of Spergy is easily album of the year for me by a landslide, no question. I really enjoyed other projects like Kali Uchis' Sincerely, and Conan Gray's Wishbone, but none of them stuck with me like this album. I've been non-stop listening and analyzing this album since it's release and I just wanted to share my favorite moments of the album.

  • 'Sign Of The Times' to ‘Emily’s Song'
Caesar managed to give, in my opinion, his best back to back song on an album. The first time I've cried to an album, it was Frank Ocean's Blonde. Listening to White Ferrari for the first time was the best and worst feeling ever, because it sounded like heaven, but I had such a headache from all the sobbing. Listening to Sign Of The Times brought me back to memory lane. As soon as the second verse hit, I was soaking my pillow. The chord progression used in the song has been used soooo many times, but it just complemented his voice very well. It's a simple, yet, affective song. And Emily's Song is like the cherry on top. I just do not have the right words to explain how this made me feel. I'm pretty sure after these two songs was the moment I realized this was AOTY for me.
  • ‘Call On Me’
When this song first released, I wasn't too sure about it. But, when I just kept listening, and listening, I just couldn't stop. It's one of the few songs on the album that you can move to.

I got too lazy to finish this. overall, it's a 9/10 album. I love it. Thank you Daniel, Mustafa, and everyone who worked on this piece of modern art.
